Time well spent bears a lifetime of memories and great relationships, but ill spent bears only regret and loneliness. - Stephen Gideon, 04/07/2008

Another thing

Valero lowered their gas price from yesterdays $3.65 to $3.52, as if that makes it any better that two days before it was $3.45. I guess they have to make an effort to look like prices go down, or sate people who were angry they jumped 20 cents, by dropping it so those people will all think... Well, that's not as bad as $3.65. I think we're being had, but what can we do? All these Gas Strikes don't work. People not buying gas on one day, and then buying the next. If people were to make a concerted effort to commute together, and not buy gas for a month... Maybe that would help, but truckers and travelers couldn't do that. So I donno. I've thought about writing the President, and my representatives... but would they even listen, do they even care? They're so out of touch, every time I write a senator they send back a form letter. Later on I'll get a form letter response which sorta addresses my question, in the same general way a person predicting the end of the world does their predicting... in an open and broad noncommittal way. So what's the point?

Today

Today wasn't a bad day. That's a good thing. I feel sorry for my hedges, they look sad since I trimmed them. :-(

Anyway, I went to work today. It's a blur, so much happened, so much to do. I am looking forward to tomorrow and hope I can get caught up on helping all the people who have needed me this week but I haven't been able to help due to higher priority projects from this week.

I met a friend at Barnes & Noble, we were gonna have coffee but she said she'd had a big lunch and drank a lot so we spent the time picking fun at books, and wandering the store looking at everything. I never get to see a bookstore, I buy most of my books online. Heck, I rarely go into an electronics store, Best Buy, etc... It's a pain to go shopping sometimes. I usually only go shopping for groceries or clothes, things which don't pack or ship very well I guess.

On the way home, it was about 7:30. The sun is low in the sky, but not setting yet. As I drove down Chenal towards the highway I saw the trees. All the oaks are full green, beautiful green leaves. It makes me even sadder I butchered my hedges yesterday. They were taking over the whole flowerbed, would that have been so bad I think now. Oh well, they'll survive. I just need to go back and them them up a little nicer when they get some new growth.

The river bridge was awesome. Coming down the hill I saw the river. I see it every day, every day it's different. The sandbars, the water level, the water birds. The Big Dam Bridge is always great to see, at night it glitters and sparkles with light. By day it highlights the Lock and Dam. The river is beautiful, the trees are all so green. The water this morning was muddy with the rain, but on the way home is was gorgeous. The sky was all swirls of clouds, clouds with shades of deep blue, light blue. It makes me thankful for God's creation. Every year that goes by I am more amazed by everything God has given us. It's truly a beautiful world, we just need to take better care of it.

Gardening

I mowed my yard today (thank the lord it wasn't raining when I got home). Front yard anyway. :-) I also trimmed the front hedges. They had a TON of new growth that got trimmed back. I brought them back to round little hedges. If I let them grow like they'd like to they'd take up the whole flower bed! Now they just look sad. They'll recover though. I just don't know how I want them to grow yet. I need to put out some weed killer, and remulch the Royal Empress tree in the front yard. The Hydrangeas aren't doing so well, so far only a couple have leaves. One seems to be flourishing, the other three not so much. Four of my six fruit trees have leaves, my hibiscus are doing alright, and the privets are going mad! :-) The weeping willow in the pot is also doing really well. I am hoping once the weather warms up the cherry and the nectarine will bud out. It's raining tonight, so I expect I'll have to mow again this weekend! :-) Backyard needs mowing again anyway.

Price Gouging?

Yesterday I paid $42.00 to fill my truck up at $3.45 a gallon for regular.

Today on the way home, it was $3.65, at the same station. The priced increased 20 cents a gallon in 24 hours! What the heck!

So is this price gouging?
